1. MORNING OUTLOOK
U.S. stocks posted moderate gains Friday as the absence of economic
data gave investors reason to pause. A number of strong releases
helped fuel Thursday's rally when the Dow closed above 10,200 for
the first time since mid-May 2002. The Dow Jones Industrial
Average gained 30.14 points, or 0.29 percent, to 10,278.22. The
Nasdaq Composite lost 5.16 points, or 0.26 percent, to 1,951.02
while the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 5.14 points, or 0.36 percent, to
1426.17. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 0.05 percent while
the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization stocks lost 0
percent. Volume amounted to 1.57 billion on the NYSE and 1.89
billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth was mixed, with
Advancers were leading Decliners by 1682 to 1574 on the NYSE.
Nasdaq's Decliners were leading Advancers by 1696 to 1505.
Dow gained 30 points to close at 10278. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above its 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is also trading in
overbought condition at the top end of its trading range. Although
further higher range is possible for Dow in the next few weeks,
Dow has a good potential for retracement in the next few sessions
from overbought condition. Trading above 10320 level could show
further strength while 10225 level may attract sellers. DOW's
resistance levels are: 10406, 10539, 10704. DOW's support levels
are: 10149, 10020, 9906. Nasdaq lost 5 points to close at 1951.
Nasdaq is trading with positive momentum and could trade side-ways
to positive bias in the next few sessions. NASDAQ's resistance
levels are: 1976, 2022, 2050. NASDAQ's support levels are: 1941,
1922, 1901. Monday's trading could be cautious and choppy.
