1. MORNING OUTLOOK




U.S. stocks closed higher Friday in a choppy session for blue chips,
with General Electric leading the gainers on its upbeat 2004
outlook, while the Nasdaq Composite surged to a new 30-month high
on Juniper Networks' strong fourth-quarter earnings. The Dow Jones
Industrial Average gained 46.66 points, or 0.44 percent, to
10,600.51. The Nasdaq Composite gained 31.38 points, or 1.49
percent, to 2,140.46 while the Nasdaq 100 Index gained 21.61
points, or 1.41 percent, to 1553.62. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index gained 0.69 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks gained 0.69 percent. Volume amounted
to 1.71 billion on the NYSE and 2.62 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was positive, with Advancers were leading
Decliners by 1894 to 1392 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Advancers were
leading Decliners by 1962 to 1218.

Dow gained 46 points to close at 10600. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow could trend higher in the
next few sessions as it trades at the key fulcrum level (10600)
and a break above 10650 could signal very strong uptrend. Trading
below 10550 could signal weakness. DOW's resistance levels are:
10732, 10870, 11039. DOW's support levels are: 10467, 10334,
10217. Nasdaq gained 31 points to close at 2140. Nasdaq gained 31

above 50 and 200-Day MA. Although Nasdaq could see additional
upside in the next few weeks, Nasdaq's overbought level might
influence some sellers in the next few sessions. NASDAQ is trading
with positive momentum. NASDAQ's resistance levels are: 2176,
2220, 2256. NASDAQ's support levels are: 2113, 2077, 2060.
Tuesday's trading could be cautious and active.
