Reflecting increased concerns in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the company's profit from operations was $4.2 million, or 9 cents a share, compared with a deficit of $2.8 million, or 6 cents, in the same period last year. Analysts were expecting a profit of 5 cents in the latest quarter. Revenue rose to $18.6 million from $12.1 million. Shares (MCAF) rose $1.01 to $33.30 on the Island ECN after falling 11.3 percent in the regular session. Rival Symantec (SYMC) also reported better-than expected earnings after the market's close.
