Moving forward, the upcoming week will be quite light in terms of economic data and earnings reports compared to the previous week.
The big event for the week will be an earnings report from Cisco on Wednesday.
Other than that, we don't see many other events that are very capable of moving the markets.
As such, investors may again start focusing on accounting - or the lack there of -issues on Wall Street. Keep in mind, after Enron, individuals will likely look over earnings reports very closely. Therefore, any small item that even remotely raises a red flag will likely result in that particular stock getting punished.
Also, to this point, Corporate America has failed to deliver the
goods as far as earnings go (in our view). So with that said, we are going to maintain our cautious stance going forward.
