Network Associates Wins 5-Yr Contract To Provide Security Solutions To Defense Department Systems - Update [NET]
9/17/02 11:49:52 AM Network Associates Inc. (NET) announced on Tuesday it has received a contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency to provide security solutions U.S. Department of Defense users.
The Santa Clara, California-based Network Associates did not comment on the specific financial terms of the contract, but said that under the five- year contract, it will deploy its McAfee Security suite of anti-virus and security solutions directly to more than three million DOD users.
The company also said that under the new contract, it would offer DOD home users comprehensive coverage, including desktop firewall protection.
Commenting on the agreement, Network Associates chairman and CEO George Samenuk said in a statement, “DISA's selection of Network Associates to provide our McAfee anti-virus and security solutions directly to the Department of Defense represents a strong confidence in our technology”
NET is currently trading at $14.55, up 45 cents or 3.2% on volume of 901k shares.
