1. MORNING OUTLOOK


Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may open
flat to higher. An overnight-inspired rally in tech shares helped to lift
European markets on Tuesday. Gains in cyclical stocks and technology
exporters pushed the Nikkei Average near a 1-year high Tuesday as
optimism grow that both U.S. and Japan's economies are on the steady
recovery path.



U.S. stocks posted solid gains as optimistic remarks from a number
of retailers brought out the bulls on Wall Street Monday, sending
U.S. blue chips to levels not seen in about 14 months. The Dow
Jones Industrial Average gained 90.76 points, or 0.97 percent, to
9,412.45. The Nasdaq Composite gained 37.48 points, or 2.20
percent, to 1,739.49 while the Nasdaq 100 Index gained 31.18
points, or 2.49 percent, to 1284.81. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index gained 0.92 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks gained 1.91 percent. Volume amounted
to 1.11 billion on the NYSE and 1.49 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was positive, with Advancers were leading
Decliners by 2203 to 1080 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Advancers were
leading Decliners by 2145 to 1036.

Dow gained 90.7 points to close at 9412. Dow broke through key
resistance level (9400) and the top end of previous trading
channel (8900-9400). Dow is also trading with positive momentum
above 50 and 200-day MA. Dow needs to hold this key resistance
level (9400) for further advance to higher levels. Watch 9460
level for potential breakout while trading below 9300 might
trigger negative momentum. DOW's resistance levels are: 9529,
9652, 9802. DOW's support levels are: 9294, 9176, 9072. Nasdaq
gained 37 points to close at 1739. Nasdaq is trading with positive
momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Nasdaq also could see additional
momentum in the next few sessions. Tuesday's trading could be
cautious and active.
