    1. MORNING OUTLOOK

Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may open
flat to higher. European markets on Monday responded to the U.S.
late-session rally in the previous session, lifting markets higher to start
the week. Declines in export-related stocks led South Korea's benchmark
stock index lower Monday as investors returned from a long holiday
worried about the impact of damage from Typhoon Maemi on shipments.

U.S. stocks posted modest gains Friday as the Stocks broke their
weekly winning streaks, falling for the first time in about a
month -- but barely. The Dow and S&P both ended off a mere 0.3
percent over the past five trading days while the Nasdaq fell 0.2
percent. The Dow snapped a five-week winning stretch while the
Nasdaq and S&P halted a four-week stretch. The Dow Jones
Industrial Average edged up 11.79 points, or 0.12 percent, to
9,471.55. The Nasdaq Composite edged up 8.94 points, or 0.48
percent, to 1,855.03 while the Nasdaq 100 Index edged up 6.83
    points, or 0.51 percent, to 1357.63. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index edged up 0.22 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks edged up 0.32 percent. Volume amounted
to 1.23 billion on the NYSE and 1.72 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was positive, with Advancers were leading
Decliners by 1921 to 1297 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Advancers were
leading Decliners by 1763 to 1383.

Dow gained 11.79 points to close at 9471. Dow is trading with
positive momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is trading at the
top end of its consolidation range and trading above 9550 would
signal higher levels for Dow. Trading below 9400 could attract
    sellers. DOW's resistance levels are: 9589, 9712, 9864. DOW's
support levels are: 9352, 9234, 9129. Nasdaq gained 8.95 points to
close at 1855. Nasdaq is trading with positive momentum above 50
and 200-Day MA. Nasdaq also appears to be regaining its strength
and trading above 1870 could signal further upside. NASDAQ's
    resistance levels are: 1900, 1955, 1973. NASDAQ's support levels
are: 1834, 1803, 1783. Monday's trading could be cautious and
    active.
