1. MORNING OUTLOOK

Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may
open flat to higher. European markets were boosted on Tuesday as
an indicator of sentiment in Germany, the eurozone's largest economy,
rose at a better-than-expected pace. Japanese banks soared Tuesday,
while other economically sensitive issues such as autos piled on gains
on recent signs that the domestic economy is growing faster than
expected and hopes that Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will prevail
in upcoming ruling party elections.


U.S. stocks posted modest losses Monday, stumped by losses in the
technology sector and selling in insurance shares amid worries
over the impact of Hurricane Isabel, which is headed for the East
Coast. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 22.74 points, or 0.24
percent, to 9,448.81. The Nasdaq Composite lost 9.33 points, or
0.50 percent, to 1,845.70 while the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 9.86
points, or 0.74 percent, to 1347.77. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index lost 0.38 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks lost 0.28 percent. Volume amounted to
1.12 billion on the NYSE and 1.47 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was negative, with Decliners were leading
Advancers by 1788 to 1462 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Decliners were
leading Advancers by 1698 to 1497.

Dow lost 22.7 points to close at 9448. Dow is trading with
positive momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is trading in a
pennant (wedge) formation and could potentially see a breakout
soon from this trading range. Watch for 9500 level for potential
upside breakout and 9400 level for breakdown. DOW's resistance
levels are: 9566, 9689, 9840. DOW's support levels are: 9330,
9212, 9107. Nasdaq lost 9.4 points to close at 1845.7. Nasdaq is
trading with positive momentum and could follow Dow in
trend-direction soon. NASDAQ's resistance levels are: 1905, 1974,
1994. NASDAQ's support levels are: 1832, 1809, 1788. Tuesday's
trading could be cautious and active.
