1 MORNING OUTLOOK

Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may open
flat to higher. European markets saw a mild lift on Thursday, led by techs
and autos amid conflicting economic data on Europe's biggest economy,
Germany. Tokyo stocks ended slightly lower Thursday as the yen's late
surge against the dollar trimmed gains for autos while losses for the
heavily weighted technology sector pulled down the market.


U.S. stock indexes posted their first declines in October as
weakness in the telecom sector, technical factors and continued
selling in the U.S. dollar dampened enthusiasm over Alcoa's better
than expected earnings report. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
lost 23.71 points, or 0.25 percent, to 9,630.90. The Nasdaq
Composite lost 14.07 points, or 0.74 percent, to 1,893.78 while
the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 10.16 points, or 0.74 percent, to
1382.40. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 0.53 percent while
the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization stocks lost 1
percent. Volume amounted to 1.23 billion on the NYSE and 1.81
billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth was negative,
with Decliners were leading Advancers by 1743 to 1478 on the NYSE.
Nasdaq's Decliners were leading Advancers by 1883 to 1304.

Dow lost 23.7 points to close at 9631. Dow is trading with
positive momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is trading in a
narrow trending channel above key support level 9600. Dow appears
to basing a pause near the key support level and could continue
its uptrend in the next few sessions. Watch 9675 level for
potential breakout and 9575 level for potential breakdown. DOW's
resistance levels are: 9750, 9876, 10030. DOW's support levels
are: 9510, 9389, 9282. Nasdaq lost 14. points to close at 1893.
Nasdaq is trading above 50 and 200-Day MA with positive momentum.
Nasdaq also could its trend to trade near 2000 level in the next
few weeks. NASDAQ's resistance levels are: 1929, 1971, 1987.
NASDAQ's support levels are: 1871, 1841, 1823. Thursday's trading
could be cautious and active.
