1. MORNING OUTLOOK


Pre-market futures are lower and suggesting that markets may open
flat to lower. Financials led a European stock market drift lower Wednesday,
while automaker Renault continued its outperformance of European peers
by posting strong quarterly sales. Tokyo's key benchmark fell below the
11,000 level Wednesday as investors dumped bank and financial issues
with a fury while caution over earnings, persistent yen strength and a mixed
Wall Street kept most buyers sidelined.


U.S. stocks posted mixed gains as telecommunications sector posted
losses with sharp losses in AT&T Corp. and SBC Communications
keeping the Dow in negative terrain. The Dow Jones Industrial
Average edged down 30.3 points, or 0.31 percent, to 9,747.64. The
Nasdaq Composite edged up 15.76 points, or 0.82 percent, to
1,940.90 while the Nasdaq 100 Index edged up 12.82 points, or 0.91
percent, to 1422.13. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index edged up 0.13
percent while the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization
stocks edged up 0.78 percent. Volume amounted to 1.44 billion on
the NYSE and 1.75 billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market
breadth was positive, with Advancers were leading Decliners by
1808 to 1413 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Advancers were leading
Decliners by 1850 to 1351.

Dow lost 30 points to close at 9747. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow appears to be losing its
momentum as it trades near the top end of the trading channel.
Trading below 9700 level could be negative for Dow and trading
above 9800 could be positive. DOW's resistance levels are: 9869,
9995, 10151. DOW's support levels are: 9625, 9503, 9395. Nasdaq
gained 15.7 points to close at 1940. Nasdaq is trading with
positive momentum abvoe 50 and 200-Day MA. Nasdaq still has
further room advance but in the near-term it could see some
pullback. NASDAQ is trading with positive momentum. NASDAQ's
resistance levels are: 1986, 2041, 2062. NASDAQ's support levels
are: 1911, 1871, 1848. Wednesday's trading could be cautious and
choppy.
