1. MORNING OUTLOOK

Pre-market futures are lower and suggesting that markets may open
flat to lower. European markets were slightly lower Thursday, as investors
saw leading corporates such as Deutsche Bank, Alcatel and Aventis post
improving earnings but worsening sales. Tokyo stocks ended modestly lower
Thursday as investors took profits in select technology issues such as Hitachi
following Wednesday's earnings-inspired runup.


U.S. stocks posted modest gains a third straight day of gains
Wednesday as better-than-expected quarterly results from Boeing
offset weakness in AT&T, Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft. The Dow
Jones Industrial Average climbed 26.22 points, or 0.27 percent, to
9,774.53. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 4.3 points, or 0.22
percent, to 1,936.56 while the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 0.10 points,
or 0.01 percent, to 1419.92. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index
climbed 0.13 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks climbed 1.13 percent. Volume amounted
to 1.51 billion on the NYSE and 1.98 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was positive, with Advancers were leading
Decliners by 2065 to 1179 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Advancers were
leading Decliners by 1929 to 1196.

Dow gained 26 points to close at 9774. Dow is still trading with
negative momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow formed a
consolidation pattern after yesterday's rally and looks pausing
before next big move up. Watch 9830 level for further strength and
9725 for weakness. DOW's resistance levels are: 9896, 10023,
10179. DOW's support levels are: 9651, 9529, 9421. Nasdaq gained
4.3 points to close at 1936. Nasdaq posted a side-ways trading
pattern and trading with negative momentum. Nasdaq also could see
potentially higher grounds in the next few sessions. NASDAQ's
resistance levels are: 1975, 2021, 2036. NASDAQ's support levels
are: 1920, 1896, 1880. Thursday's trading could be cautious and
active.
