SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov 4, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Proxim Corporation (PROX, Trade), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, today announced that it has received the Overall Partnership Award for 2003 from leading global IT distributor, Ingram Micro Inc. (IM, Trade). Proxim won the award in part for its role in providing the products, tools and training that helped Ingram Micro's sales and technical organizations develop and deliver the company's surveillance program launched in August, 2003.
Proxim was one of nine vendors presented with an award during a ceremony at Ingram Micro's annual Marketing Symposium held on October 8th. The prestigious award is given to business partners that excel in the areas of strategy, execution, follow-through, success and ROI.
Proxim's work in supporting the development and execution of Ingram Micro's surveillance program contributed significantly to its winning the award. The program combines traditional security equipment such as cameras and video, with digital and wireless technologies to deliver customized solutions that meet the increased surveillance and security needs of vertical industries such as education, enterprise, government, military, retail and transportation. Proxim teamed with Axis to create the innovative solution set which Ingram Micro implemented and marketed, along with products from other leading manufacturers such as Cisco, HP and Sony.
"Proxim has taken a proactive role in providing the right products, tools and training to our sales, marketing and technical organizations along with our solution providers," said Kevin Murai, president of Ingram Micro North America. "Their awareness of our customers' needs for support and guidance in this new emerging market has been tremendous."
"Providing customers with an end-to-end solution was critical to Ingram Micro's ability to address the growing market for security and surveillance," said Deborah Ablahat-Cipriano, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Proxim. "We were pleased to play such an integral role in designing and developing that solution and are honored that Ingram Micro chose to acknowledge our contribution with this award."
