1. MORNING OUTLOOK


Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may open
flat to higher. Tokyo stocks reversed gears to end higher Friday as improved
earnings for drugmakers and upbeat economic data fueled a late-day rally
ahead of general elections in Japan this Sunday. European markets rose to
2003 highs on Friday, boosted by an improvement overnight in U.S. stocks
and by plans at Bayer to get rid of its chemicals business.


U.S. stocks posted modest gains Thursday, with the market gauges
closing just below their session highs as investors brace for a
fresh report on the nation's job-growth picture. The Dow Jones
Industrial Average gained 36.14 points, or 0.37 percent, to
9,856.97. The Nasdaq Composite gained 17 points, or 0.87 percent,
to 1,976.37 while the Nasdaq 100 Index gained 10.52 points, or
0.74 percent, to 1440.08. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained
0.59 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization
stocks gained 0.75 percent. Volume amounted to 1.41 billion on the
NYSE and 2.16 billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth
was positive, with Advancers were leading Decliners by 1893 to
1348 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Advancers were leading Decliners by
1828 to 1315.

Dow gained 36 points to close at 9856. Dow is trading with
positive momentum and showing strong strength above 50 and 200-day
MA. Dow could continue its trading strength and could move higher
in the next few sessions. Watch 9900 for continuation of strength
while trading below 9800 could be sign of weakness. DOW's
resistance levels are: 9979, 10107, 10265. DOW's support levels
are: 9733, 9610, 9500. Nasdaq gained 17 points to close at 1976.
Nasdaq is trading with positive momentum and showing signs of
trading above 2000 level in the next few sessions. NASDAQ is
trading with positive momentum. NASDAQ's resistance levels are:
2003, 2037, 2054. NASDAQ's support levels are: 1943, 1901, 1883.
Friday's trading could be cautious and active.
