. MORNING OUTLOOK
U.S. stocks posted gains Friday, rallying despite conflicting
signals about the health of the economy. Early gains followed news
of an unexpected decline in producer prices, but the advance
evaporated upon release of a disappointing measure of consumer
confidence. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 34 points, or
0.34 percent, to 10,042.16. The Nasdaq Composite gained 6.68
points, or 0.34 percent, to 1,949.00 while the Nasdaq 100 Index
gained 0.31 points, or 0.02 percent, to 1417.27. The Standard &
Poor's 500 Index gained 0.27 percent while the Russell 2000 Index
of small-capitalization stocks gained 0.86 percent. Volume
amounted to 1.21 billion on the NYSE and 1.46 billion on the
Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth was positive, with Advancers
were leading Decliners by 2160 to 1127 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's
Advancers were leading Decliners by 1945 to 1164.
Dow gained 34 points to close at 10042. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above the key 10000 level. Dow is trading with strong
upward momentum and could see a rally above 10070 level. Watch
10000 level for further support and 10070 level for a breakout.
OW's resistance levels are: 10167, 10297, 10458. DOW's support
levels are: 9916, 9790, 9679. Nasdaq gained 6.6 points to close at
1949. Nasdaq is trading with negative momentum and poised to
follow Dow trend in the next few sessions. NASDAQ's resistance
levels are: 1975, 2022, 2050. NASDAQ's support levels are: 1940,
1922, 1901. Monday's trading could be cautiuos and active.
