1. MORNING OUTLOOK
U.S. stocks posted mixed gains as late-rally pushed Dow into
positive territory on Wednesday, but Nasdaq ended in red. The Dow
Jones Industrial Average added 15.7 points, or 0.15 percent, to
10,145.26. The Nasdaq Composite lost 2.96 points, or 0.15 percent,
to 1,921.33 while the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 3.28 points, or 0.23
percent, to 1400.00. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 0.13
percent while the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization
stocks added 0.18 percent. Volume amounted to 1.41 billion on the
NYSE and 1.51 billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth
was mixed, with Advancers were leading Decliners by 1924 to 1302
on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Decliners were leading Advancers by 1746 to
1426.
Dow gained 16 points to close at 10145. Dow is trading with positive
momentum near overbought condition. Dow traded most of the day
side-ways and currently trading near the top-end of its recent
trading range. A break above 10185 could confirm the breakout and
could move higher while trading below 10100 could attract sellers.
DOW is trading with positive momentum. DOW's resistance levels
are: 10271, 10403, 10565. DOW's support levels are: 10017, 9891,
9778. Nasdaq lost 2.9 points to close at 1921. Nasdaq is trading
with negative momentum below 50-day MA. Nasdaq needs to trade
above 1955 level to regain its positive momentum. Nasdaq may see a
short-term bounce in the next few sessions. NASDAQ's resistance
levels are: 1933, 1951, 1979. NASDAQ's support levels are: 1904,
1874, 1852. Thursday's trading could be cautious and active.
