خسارة تاريخية للبنك الملكي الأسكتلندي والتأميم محتمل


تراجع أسهم البنك الملكي الأسكتلندي أثار مخاوف في الأسواق المالية (الفرنسية-أرشيف)

قال البنك الملكي الأسكتلندي إنه يتوقع أن تصل خسائره خلال 2008 إلى نحو 41 مليار دولار، ما جعل أسهمه تتراجع بشكل حاد وضعه على حافة الانهيار وأثار احتمال تأميمه بشكل كامل إلى جانب مصارف أخرى.


وقد حذر البنك من أن خسائره قد تصل ذلك المستوى قبل نشر النتائج السنوية يوم 26 فبراير/شباط المقبل. وعلى خلفية ذلك تراجعت أسهم البنك بنحو 67%، ما أثار حالة من الخوف في الأسواق المالية الأوروبية.


وقد أثار التراجع في قيمة أسهم البنك إمكانية تدخل الحكومة لتأميمه بشكل كامل من أجل تفادي انهياره.

كما ترجح صحيفة ذي إندبندنت أن يمتد مسلسل التأميم إلى مصارف بريطانية أخرى من قبيل باركليز التي شهدت أسهمها أمس الاثنين تراجعا كبيرا.

وكانت الحكومة البريطانية قد بادرت عقب إعلان البنك الملكي الأسكتلندي عن حجم خسائره التي تعد الأكبر في تاريخ الشركات البريطانية إلى زيادة حصتها في البنك إلى نحو 70% بعدما وصلت في أكتوبر/تشرين الأول الماضي إلى 58%.

The Bank of New York Mellon's index of leading European ADRs .BKEUR slid 7.4 percent and the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares lost 2.1 percent to a two-month closing low on concerns that the financial sector will need more government help to emerge from the current crisis.

New York-traded shares of Lloyds bank Group (LYG.N) plummeted 55.3 percent to $2.77 and Deutsche Bank (DB.N) fell 16.7 percent to $21.85, both on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Bank of New York Mellon's index of leading Asian ADRs .BKAS declined 4.8 percent, while the MSCI index of Asia-Pacific shares outside of Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS fell 3.3 percent.

Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei average .N225 slid 2.3 percent as deepening trouble in the global financial sector hurt bank shares. ADRs of Mizuho Financial Group (MTU.N) fell almost 8 percent to $5.28. But automobile maker Honda Motor Co (HMC.N) was one of the few Japanese ADRs advancing, up 2.4 percent at $22.78.

The ADR sub-index of Latin American companies .BKLA slipped 6.5 percent amid declines across the board. The ADRs of Mexico's America Movil (AMX.N) fell 5 percent to $27.38 and Brazil's miner Vale (RIO.N) lostd 6.9 percent to $12.06. (Editing by Jan Paschal)
