J.M. Dutton & Associates Announces Investment Opinion: Physiometrix Upgraded To Strong Speculative Buy By Dutton & Associates

We are revising our investment rating upward on the common stock of Physiometrix, Inc., from Speculative Buy to Strong Speculative Buy based on our analysis of Physiometrix's gains in the level of consciousness (LOC) market and the Company's current valuation. In the sensor area, while the total market has been growing at approximately 20% and dictated by Aspect Medical System's large market share, the rate of change of Physiometrix's sensor placements have been multiples of Aspect's. Within the FY2003 to FY2004 time frame, Aspect's rate of change in this area has been flat to negative, while Physiometrix's rate of change has been approximately double for the same period. We see similar results when we analyze the capital equipment side of the LOC market. Physiometrix's market value has recently declined to approximately $13 million, close to a five-year low. On the other hand, Aspect Medical's market value has recently grown to a three-year high of $486 million or approximately 35X the market value of Physiometrix. The discrepancy in valuation between these two companies, competing head-to-head with similar products, seems a little absurd.
