That is, if the index can form a higher low or a consoildation at the high, more upside may be in store, especially if the index can rise above resistance at 1,420 (1,070)... "
The NASDAQ was able to hold onto big gains yet again, and was even able to tack on another 10 (10) points, as the index traded sideways-to-up the entire session. This is a promising development as we know that consolidations after rallies typically imply continuations.
However, as we have mentioned in the Dow, the index is likely to be over-extended in the short term, therefore, we could see a more noticeable pull-back before any further upside resumes. Looking at the 15 Minute Chart, you see that the index has formed a clear trend line beneath the lows of the four-day rally.
A downside break of this line at 1,425 (1,065) could signal an oncoming retracement. Watch this line tomorrow. If the index is able to rise above 1,440 (1,080), the uptrend is likely to resume along the lower trend line.
Short Term NASDAQ
Short term, the NASDAQ ended the day reversing higher off the lower trend line, seen in the 5 Minute Chart. The upside push off the line implies strength for tomorrow's Open. However, if the index breaks below 1,425 (1,065), a downside move is likely.
Medium Term NASDAQ
In the medium term, we closed our Long position this morning at 1,418 (1,058), taking 16 (12) points of profit for the move. We then entered Short at 1,418 (1,058), but took a 5 (5) point loss on the consolidation, and another on a Long attempt above 1,438 (1,078). We are now out of the market and will watch 1,420 (1,060) down, and 1,443 (1,083) up, with 5 (5) point stops. We are de-activating the 30 Minute Rule, and will trade breaks at the Open with 3 (3) point stops on an initial entry.
