1. MORNING OUTLOOK

Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may open
flat to higher. Financials were in the lead of European markets that
were trading in-line amid little economic and corporate reporting on
Monday. Japan's key Nikkei Average rose 1.7 percent to close above
10,000 threshold Friday for the first time in a year as investors bought
cyclical issues as expectations grow for a steady recovery in the
country's economy.



The U.S. stock indexes ended with slim gains Friday on feather-light
volume as the Northeast emerged from a massive power outage that
caused havoc for millions of people. Traders said activity would
have been even lighter if Friday had not been an options
expiration day. A mere 624 million shares exchanged hands on the
NYSE and 699 million traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market. That's
about 45 percent lower compared with Thursday's volumes. The Dow
Jones Industrial Average gained 11.13 points, or 0.12 percent, to
9,321.69. The Nasdaq Composite gained 1.67 points, or 0.10
percent, to 1,702.01 while the Nasdaq 100 Index gained 1.73
points, or 0.14 percent, to 1253.63. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index gained 0.02 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks gained 0.15 percent. Volume amounted
to .56 billion on the NYSE and .70 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was positive, with Advancers were leading
Decliners by 1702 to 1387 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Advancers were
leading Decliners by 1462 to 1461.

Dow gained 11 points to close at 9321. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow appears to be trading in
tight consolidation range on Friday and may test its upper end of
trading channel (8900-9400) in the next few sessions. Watch
9370-9400 for key resistance while trading below 9270 would be
negative. DOW's resistance levels are: 9437, 9558, 9708. DOW's
support levels are: 9204, 9088, 8984. Nasdaq gained 1.69 points to
close at 1702. Nasdaq is trading above key support level (1700).
Nasdaq is also trading with negative momentum above 50 and 200-Day
MA. Nasdaq could see some positive bias in the next few sessions.
NASDAQ's resistance levels are: 1729, 1779, 1808. NASDAQ's support
levels are: 1693, 1676, 1654. Monday's trading could be cautious
and active.
