1. MORNING OUTLOOK



Pre-market futures are lower and suggesting that markets may open
flat to lower. German stocks rose on Tuesday after a key measure of
business confidence showed expectations for an improving economy
did not diminish in August, bolstering a view that Germany's economy
bottomed out in the second quarter. Japan's key index fell Tuesday
morning as key exporters such as Toyota and Canon declined amid
worries over the yen's recent strength against the dollar.



U.S. stocks posted modest losses as the analysts Wall Street
downgrades of Caterpillar and Alcoa hindering blue chips
throughout Monday's light-volume trading session. The Dow Jones
Industrial Average lost 31.23 points, or 0.33 percent, to
9,317.64. The Nasdaq Composite lost 1.01 points, or 0.06 percent,
to 1,764.31 while the Nasdaq 100 Index rose 2.10 points, or 0.16
percent, to 1306.64. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 0.07
percent while the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization
stocks lost 0.34 percent. Volume amounted to .95 billion on the
NYSE and 1.12 billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth
was negative, with Decliners were leading Advancers by 1910 to
1326 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Decliners were leading Advancers by
1805 to 1348.

Dow lost 31 points to close at 9317. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is trading near key support
level and could potentially see further consolidation before
breakout to the upside. Watch 9400 level for strength while
trading below 9250 could trigger a sell-off. DOW's resistance
levels are: 9433, 9554, 9703. DOW's support levels are: 9200,
9084, 8980. Nasdaq lost 1 point to close at 1764. Nasdaq is
trading with positive momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Nasdaq
appears to be holding on to its key support levels and may be
showing some sign of strength. Watch 1750 level for further
support while trading above 1780 could signal a breakout. NASDAQ's
resistance levels are: 1821, 1887, 1908. NASDAQ's support levels
are: 1745, 1716, 1693. Tuesday's trading could be cautious and
choppy.
