1. MORNING OUTLOOK


Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may open
flat to higher. European markets on Wednesday carried over an overnight
boost on Wall Street to reach one-year highs, with technology companies
particularly well-bid after a key broker upgrade. Tokyo stocks ended slightly
Wednesday as Japanese long-beleaguered banks continued to find fresh
converts as an improving economy led to more upgrades of the financial sector.


U.S. stocks posted solid gains as the Nasdaq finished at a 17-month
high Tuesday, spurred by a bevy of upbeat analyst comments on the

9,523.27, bolstered by Eastman Kodak, IBM, General Motors and
General Electric. All but two of the index's 30 components ended

Networking and software were the technology sector's best
performers Tuesday, while airline and brokerage stocks took the
lead in the broader market. Only oil service issues ended in the
minus column. The day's economic news confirmed recent
indicators showing improvements in the factory sector. The
Institute of Supply Management's manufacturing index rose to 54.7
percent in August from July's 51.8 percent, more than the 53.5
percent reading that had been expected by economists. The upbeat
reading on the national index followed last week's surge to a
15-month high in the regional Chicago PMI index. The closely
watched ISM index remained above the key 50 percent mark, which
separates a contracting manufacturing sector from an expanding
one, for a second straight month.

Dow posted 107.5 point gain to close at 9523. Dow is trading with
positive momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is showing strong
strength and could even move higher in the next few weeks after a
brief pause. Watch 9560 level for potential breakout while 9475
for potential breakdown. DOW's resistance levels are: 9641, 9765,
9918. DOW's support levels are: 9403, 9284, 9179. Nasdaq gained 31
points to close at 1841. Although Nasdaq appears strong above 50
and 200-Day MA, Nasdaq is clearly in overbought condition and
could see some sort of retracement in the next few sessions.
Medium to Long term trend for Nasdaq is positive. NASDAQ is
trading with positive momentum. NASDAQ's resistance levels are:
1872, 1911, 1931. NASDAQ's support levels are: 1811, 1771, 1751.
Wednesday's trading could be cautious and choppy.
