Kuwait to provide loan to Georgia
RBC, 19.02.2007, Tbilisi 11:08:51.The government of Kuwait will provide a loan worth a total of $700m for the construction of a large hydropower station in western Georgia. The Georgian Energy Ministry told RBC today that this agreement with Kuwaiti government was reached during a parliamentary delegation's visit to Kuwait. The new station will be located on the Rioni River near Georgia's second largest city of Kutaisi. Georgia has not revealed the terms of the loan or the capacity of the station. However, according to the Georgian government, it will meet the country's demand for electricity almost fully.
