1. MORNING OUTLOOK

Pre-market futures are higher and suggesting that markets may open
flat to higher. Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse and French retailer
Pinault-Printemps-Redoute helped to set a negative tone as European
markets saw a modest pullback Tuesday. Japan's stock market posted hefty
gains Tuesday as investors flocked to export-oriented automakers and
technology issues following the dollar's sharp rise against the yen and
Wall Street's surge to 17-month highs.


U.S. stocks posted gains Monday as investors rallied around positive
earnings news, a spate of acquisitions and signs of strength in
the manufacturing and technology sectors. The Dow Jones Industrial
Average added 57.34 points, or 0.59 percent, to 9,858.46. The
Nasdaq Composite added 35.49 points, or 1.84 percent, to 1,967.70
while the Nasdaq 100 Index added 26.74 points, or 1.89 percent, to
1443.13. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 0.79 percent while
the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization stocks added 1.82
percent. Volume amounted to 1.35 billion on the NYSE and 2.10
billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth was positive,
with Advancers were leading Decliners by 2270 to 984 on the NYSE.
Nasdaq's Advancers were leading Decliners by 2164 to 1077.

Dow gained 58 points to close at 9858. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow has regained its
trend-channel and trading near the top-end of its channel
(9450-9850). A break above 9900 could signal further strength
while a close below 9800 could be negative. DOW's resistance
levels are: 9981, 10109, 10267. DOW's support levels are: 9734,
9611, 9502. Nasdaq gained 35 points to close at 1967. Nasdaq is
trading with positive momentum near the top end of its trading
channel. Nasdaq also could follow Dow's trend in the next few
weeks. ASDAQ's resistance levels are: 1992, 2025, 2040. NASDAQ's
support levels are: 1936, 1897, 1881. Tuesday's trading could be
cautious and active.
