1. MORNING OUTLOOK Pre-market futures are lower and suggesting that markets may open flat to lower. European markets back-pedaled Monday, led by technology stocks, with weaker U.S. and Japan stocks and a strong euro contributing to losses. A weekend terror attack in Turkey also contributed to market jitters. Tokyo's key benchmark plunged almost 4 percent to end below the 10,000 level Monday as investors dumped banking, Internet and other technology stocks following Wall Street's decline Friday, terrorism jitters and worries that the yen's unrelenting rise could hurt Japanese exporters. U.S. stocks posted losses Friday amid mediocre economic data and a pullback in technology issues. The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down 69.26 points, or 0.70 percent, to 9,768.68. The Nasdaq Composite edged down 37.09 points, or 1.89 percent, to 1,930.26 while the Nasdaq 100 Index edged down 32.36 points, or 2.35 percent, to 1407.51. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index edged down 0.76 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization stocks edged down 1.57 percent. Volume amounted to 1.33 billion on the NYSE and 1.83 billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth was negative, with Decliners were leading Advancers by 1884 to 1344 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Decliners were leading Advancers by 2148 to 1051. Dow lost 69 points to close at 9768. Dow is trading with negative momentum as it reversed its morning rush to 9900 level. Dow's 9900 level could provide further resistance and a break above that level would signify strength in the next few weeks. Dow's Friday's reversal is also a key reversal day. Watch for 9700 for further support and 9820 level for breakout level. Dow could trade side-ways until the lower end of its recent trading range (9650). . DOW's resistance levels are: 9890, 10017, 10173. DOW's support levels are: 9646, 9523, 9415. Nasdaq lost 37 points to close at 1930. Nasdaq is trading with negative momentum and could see further downward pressure in the next few sessions. NASDAQ's resistance levels are: 1939, 1969, 2014. NASDAQ's support levels are: 1916, 1887, 1859. Monday's trading could be cautious and choppy.
