1. MORNING OUTLOOK

U.S. stocks posted solid gains as new 52-week highs Monday as
better-than-expected economic news and strong holiday sales data
kept investors in a merry mood. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
gained 116.59 points, or 1.19 percent, to 9,899.05. The Nasdaq
Composite gained 29.56 points, or 1.51 percent, to 1,989.82 while
the Nasdaq 100 Index gained 22.83 points, or 1.6 percent, to
1447.08. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 1.13 percent while
the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization stocks gained 1.48
percent. Volume amounted to 1.34 billion on the NYSE and 1.85
billion on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Market breadth was positive,
with Advancers were leading Decliners by 2417 to 882 on the NYSE.
Nasdaq's Advancers were leading Decliners by 2105 to 1134.

Dow gained 116.5 points to close at 9899. Dow is trading with
positive momentum and broke out of the recent consoldiation range.
Dow could continue to trade higher if it crosses the level 9925
level to test the key psychological resistance at 10000 in the
next few sessions. Watch 9825 level for potential breakdown and
9925 for breakout. DOW's resistance levels are: 10022, 10150,
10309. DOW's support levels are: 9774, 9651, 9541. Nasdaq gained
29.5 points to close at 1989. Nasdaq is also trading with positive
momentum and appears very strong. Nasdaq could also see similar
action as Dow and could trend higher in the next few weeks.
NASDAQ's resistance levels are: 2017, 2052, 2080. NASDAQ's support
levels are: 1968, 1940, 1927. Tuesday's trading could be cautious
and choppy.
