1. MORNING OUTLOOK
U.S. stock indexes posted losses in midafternoon trading Friday,
tripped up by November jobs data and a sales outlook from
technology bellwether Intel that were good, but disappointing to
investors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 68.14 points, or
0.69 percent, to 9,862.68. The Nasdaq Composite lost 30.98 points,
or 1.57 percent, to 1,937.82 while the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 25.47
points, or 1.84 percent, to 1406.91. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index lost 0.77 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks lost 0.96 percent. Volume amounted to
1.22 billion on the NYSE and 1.68 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was negative, with Decliners were leading
Advancers by 1787 to 1437 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Decliners were
leading Advancers by 2063 to 1080.
Dow lost 68 points to close at 9862. Dow is trading with positive
momentum above 50 and 200-Day MA. Dow is consolidating at the
higher end of its trading channel and could see some weakness in
the next few sessions. Watch 9800 for potential support and 9920
for a breakout level. DOW's resistance levels are: 9985, 10113,
10271. DOW's support levels are: 9738, 9615, 9506. Nasdaq lost 31
points to close at 1937. Nasdaq is trading with positive momentum
above 50 and 200-day MA. Nasdaq also could see some side-ways to
negative bias trading in the next few sessions. NASDAQ's
resistance levels are: 1946, 1977, 2024. NASDAQ's support levels
are: 1922, 1892, 1863. Monday's trading could be cautious and
choppy.
