1. MORNING OUTLOOK



U.S. stocks posted losses Tuesday after the Federal Reserve left
interest rates unchanged but indicated a change in its bias toward
inflation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 41.85 points, or
0.42 percent, to 9,923.42. The Nasdaq Composite lost 40.53 points,
or 2.08 percent, to 1,908.32 while the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 34.39
points, or 2.55 percent, to 1383.66. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index lost 0.85 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of
small-capitalization stocks lost 1.62 percent. Volume amounted to
1.41 billion on the NYSE and 1.82 billion on the Nasdaq Stock
Market. Market breadth was negative, with Decliners were leading
Advancers by 1994 to 1285 on the NYSE. Nasdaq's Decliners were
leading Advancers by 2227 to 977.

Dow lost 42 points to close at 9923. Dow staged a modest rally at
the open and crossed 10000 level but could not hold on to it. Dow
formed a Double-Top at 10000 level and reversed its trend by the
close. Dow could see further sell-off if key support level 9870 is
broken. Trading and closing above 10000 level could also bring
buyers in the short-term. DOW's resistance levels are: 10046,
10175, 10334. DOW's support levels are: 9798, 9674, 9564. Nasdaq
lost 40.5 points to close at 1908. Technology sectors are taking
major share of losses as the weakness near the middle of its
trading channel continues. Watch 1900 level for minor support and
1930 for additional resistance. Wednesday's trading could be
cautious and choppy.
