Metromedia Fiber Network (MFNX) is gaining 11 cents, or 27 percent, to 52 cents on volume of 29.4 million shares, after the company reiterated fourth-quarter revenue expectations and provided a 2002 outlook. The fiber-optic networking company said revenue for the quarter ending December would be $100 million to $103 million, bringing the 2001 total to $360 million to $363 million. For 2002, the company is forecasting sales to grow to $510 million to $535 million. The company said that it expected to become cash flow positive during the first quarter. Metromedia added that it expects capital expenditures for the year to be $60 million to $70 million, down from the projected $1.3 billion in 2001.
