dear abu badr where should we buy this stock or should we avoid it?
thank you vert much

Broadcom (BRCM) is slumping $4.41, or 15 percent, to $25.53 on concerns that Motorola (MOT) will partner with Texas Instruments (TXN) on a competing cable modem. Analyst Nathaniel Cohen at Goldman Sachs doesn't believe this would materially impact Broadcom revenue, however, and recommends using any resulting weakness in the stock as a buying opportunity. Motorola is inching up a penny to $14.45 and TI is slipping 15 cents to $27.40.

the 2 product announcements yesterday highlight BRCM’s ability to leverage its
acquisitions, its systems-level expertise, and VLSI chip design capabilities to develop integrated,
cost-effective solutions for next generation communications systems. .
BRCM introduced its 3rd generation family of Gigabit Ethernet switch products, called the
StrataXGS chip family, which enables enterprise networking customers to build scalable 12 through
48-port layer 2-7 switch products for corporate applications. We believe BRCM’s Gigabit products
for desktop, enterprise, and metro networking applications are enabling customers to develop and
offer cost-effective products, and ultimately accelerate the deployment of Gigabit Ethernet.
The XGS chip family is comprised of 2 Gigabit switch (12-port scalable and 12-port fixed) chips and
2 switch fabric chips, all fabricated using advanced 0.13 micron CMOS manufacturing technology
with copper interconnect. We believe that BRCM’s family of Ethernet switches (StrataSwitch,
MetroSwitch, and StrataXGS) provides customers with a comprehensive, scalable, and highly
intelligent (Layer 2-7) solution for Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet
switching applications. We continue to believe that Gigabit Ethernet will be a strong driver for the
company in 2002 and throughout 2003.
BRCM also announced its next generation single-chip cable set-top box product, the BCM7115.
Targeted for low-cost next-generation cable set-top platforms, the BCM7115 integrates the front-end
modulator/demodulator), back-end (MPEG video decoders), personal video recording (PVR), MIPS
processor, system control and peripherals all into a single chip. We believe highly integrated
products like the BCM7115 enable BRCM to increase silicon and dollar content within nextgeneration
platforms
