For the most part, last week's numbers were really not all that bad when you consider what transpired in Q3. If this trend continues, the markets could continue to do well. However, like the previous rallies the markets have seen for the past 18 months, this one looks to be based on speculation and a lot of hype that a turnaround is underway. When you start to see investors chase stocks and the biggest fear on the street is missing the next rally, it often signals that the markets are approaching a "near term top". Remember, to date,there have been no facts that a turnaround is underway in the US economy or in corporate profits. And in fact, a strong case can be made that the picture for both could be getting bleaker. With that said, we continue to feel it's best to remain cautious and keep cash levels up moving forward.
