Universal Express Team Luggage Express Auberlen and Alhadeff Score First Rolex Series Overall Win in Linder Industrial Komatsu Grand Prix of Miami
Universal Express Inc. (OTCBB: USXP), sponsored race team, Team Luggage Express, in just their eighth Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype start as a team, co-drivers Bill Auberlen and Matthew Alhadeff and the Luggage Express Team Sigalsport BMW owned by Gene Sigal earned their first victory in Saturday's Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Driving the No. 05 Luggage Express Team Sigalsport BMW Riley, Auberlen passed 2005 Daytona Prototype co-champion Max Angelelli in Turn 6 with 11 laps to go. Over the remainder of the race, Angelelli tried to find his way past Auberlen, but the two-time Rolex Series GT class champion managed to keep the Italian at bay to win by 1.759 seconds.

”The entire Universal Express team would like to congratulate Team Luggage Express on its incredible win. It was a very exciting race. Many Universal Express employees and their families attended this race. The excitement and pride was tremendous. As we saw from Bill Auberlen and Matthew Alhadeff on Saturday, it takes team effort and the right partners to make things happen. That’s what Universal Express and its divisions and subsidiaries are all about, team work and working with the right groups to ensure our coming across the finish line first,” said Richard A. Altomare, Chairman and CEO of Universal Express, Inc.
"First of all, it feels unbelievable," Auberlen said. "It came earlier than I even expected. I knew we had a learning curve with the car. The team had a gelling curve, where everybody has to come together. It's all coming together so fast. We've got a good motor program now, and everything is good, so to win this one, it's one of the best wins I've ever had. It was one of the hardest-fought wins I ever had to do.”
“That hardest fought win comment by Bill Auberlen might accurately verbalize what creating a luggage adjustment in traveler’s minds has been for Luggage Express. Like our race team we are confident of the checkered flag in luggage,” concluded Richard A. Altomare, Universal Express, Inc.
